Before You Register
Handgun Rentals: Need a rental handgun? Rentals are available at check-in for $25 and include the firearm, holster, and two magazines. Students must bring their own 9mm ammunition, eye protection, and hearing protection.

MD Handgun Qualification License (HQL)
This comprehensive course is required to purchase a handgun in Maryland.
During this course, you'll gain essential knowledge of firearm safety, home defense strategies, and key skills such as: firearm manipulation, loading and unloading techniques, malfunction drills, weapon maintenance, and much more!

MD Wear & Carry Permit (Initial)
All law-abiding citizens are eligible to obtain a Maryland Wear and Carry Permit.
This course meets Maryland State Police training requirements for residents and non-residents and includes classroom instruction and live-fire qualification for students 21 and older.

MD Wear & Carry Permit Renewal
Required renewal course for current Maryland permit holders.
This course reviews relevant legal updates, reinforces defensive fundamentals, and includes required live-fire qualification to maintain active carry status.
Renewal training can be completed up to two years before your permit expires and must be submitted to the Maryland State Police within 120 days of expiration.

A comprehensive 16-hour, two-day course designed for Delaware residents 21+ who want to satisfy both Delaware Resident CCW and Maryland Wear & Carry training requirements in one streamlined program.

DE CCW and Permit Purchase Course
This Delaware-specific course meets the statutory training requirements for either the Delaware Concealed Carry Permit or Permit to Purchase.
DE Residents only.

New Jersey CCW Permit
This course satisfies New Jersey’s training and qualification requirements for residents and non-residents. Instruction includes legal overview and required qualification standards.
You must own your own firearm for this course.

Utah Non-Resident Permit
This Utah Non-Resident course includes fingerprints and passport photo submission. The Utah permit is widely recognized and may expand lawful carry reciprocity depending on your residency status.
Note: Delaware residents must have a Delaware Resident Handgun Permit in order to obtain a Utah permit.

Handgun Skills & Performance Training
Designed for students who want to move beyond basic certification and develop greater confidence, control, and performance.

Beginner Handgun Course
A low-stress, instructor-guided range experience focused on safe gun handling, marksmanship fundamentals, and confidence building.
Ideal for new shooters or those desiring a refresher.

Scenario Based Training
Interactive decision-making training using live role-players in shoot/don’t shoot scenarios. Focuses on judgment, situational awareness, and lawful use-of-force decision making.
Do not bring firearms or ammunition.

Live Fire Workshop
An intermediate-level course focused on improving consistency, recoil control, shot placement, and handgun manipulation under instructor supervision.

A dynamic, high-intensity course featuring movement, barricades, stress drills, and multi-target engagement.
This course is for experienced shooters only — prerequisite: successful completion of the Tactical Shepherd Live Fire Workshop or MD Wear & Carry Course with a score of 95% or better.

Competition Steel Plate Course & Tournament
Tactical Shepherd is stepping into competitive steel plate shooting — bringing championship-level experience to the range, led by nationally recognized guest competitive instructors Travis Gibson and Wyatt Gibson.
Throughout the course, students will develop visual discipline and aggressive target acquisition, improve draw-to-first-shot efficiency, sharpen target transitions and split times, refine grip management, master trigger control at speed, control recoil and sight tracking, manage cadence, understand plate sequencing and stage strategy, and perform consistently under time pressure.
The day concludes with a Steel Plate Tournament, where shooters apply what they’ve learned in a competitive format.
