Maryland

Use the Maryland State Police Licensing Portal to apply for your Maryland Handgun Qualification License (HQL), Wear & Carry Permit, renewal, 77R, and other licensing services.

- Training: Complete an 8-hour renewal course with a qualified instructor within 2 years before your permit expires.
- Process: Submit your renewal online through the MSP Licensing Portal.
- Timeline: Plan to submit your renewal application 120 days before expiration to avoid a lapse.
- Fee: $75, payable to MSP online.
- Documents: Signed MSP 29-14 qualification score sheet from training and a recent passport-style photograph.
- Fingerprints: Not required for renewal.
